A Photo Workshop by Anná, from the 25th of March to the 6th of May
Do you feel the call to learn more about photography? We invite you to create your first own photo exhibition!
In collaboration with BACAB, Anná presents a hands-on photography workshop where you’ll learn techniques and insights to develop your artistic vision of Tulum through the story of its people. In a collaborative and inspiring environment we will co/create a group exhibition, showcasing your work at Artery Bacab. Let’s co/create, have fun and give back to the community!
CREATE YOUR FIRST EXHIBITION & GIVE BACK TO THE PEOPLE OF TULUM
Week 1: Visual Storytelling x Finding your Subject
Let’s start your visual storytelling journey!
What you will learn:
How to create a story through images and the power of visual storytelling
The art of researching and connecting with your subject
The role of social responsibility
Week 2 : Developing a Narrative Concept & Aperture
What you will learn:
How to use the tools of composition to express your unique perspective on this world
How to develop a narrative concept/story map
How to use aperture to control depth of field and shoot portraits
Week 3 : The Play of Light & Contrast
What you will learn :
How to use contrast to interesting photos
The importance of the establishing shot
Finally understanding the ISO
How to play with light to create meaningful photos
Week 4: Portrait & Building Trust
What you will learn:
How to build trust with your subject and overcome possible obstacles
The different types of portraits
How to replace the fear to shoot with joy and curiosityWeek 7 : Curation X Presentation (Extended Workshop 3h)
Week 5 : Your subject's talent x capturing activity
What you will learn:
How to capture your subject’s talent and activity to reveal their nature
How to identify and photograph meaningful actions that tell a deeper story
How to use shutter speed to play with time
Week 6: The Poetic Moment x Play
What you will learn:
Using tools and unconventional techniques to experiment with reality
How to forget everything you have learned
Week 7 : Curation X Presentation (Extended Workshop 3h)
This is our grand finale, where we co/create our final exhibition together! In this workshop, you will curate your photo story — selecting the right images, arranging them into a narrative, and choosing titles that create meaning beyond the visible.
We will define an exhibition look as a group, experimenting with color, mood, and Lightroom edits to bring our story about the PEOPLE OF TULUM to life in the most impactful way.

ABOUT YOUR GUIDE: Anná Rieke
I’m Anná Rieke, a German photographer and film producer who’s made Tulum my home for the past three years.
Having lived in several countries like Brazil, the UK and Mexico, I deeply value tolerance and cross-cultural understanding.
With my photography project DOCUPOETRY I focus on creating visual stories that reflect the spirit of people, their missions and traditions.
Photography is my way to live my curiosity, connect to people and explore the fascinating tapestry of stories that unite us all.
